How do I pay import duties and taxes?
When you place an order and your shipment is subject to import duties and taxes, these fees are typically handled in one of two ways:
1. Prepaid at checkout (Delivery Duties Paid - DDP):
- For orders shipping to the UK, Canada, China and Japan, you can prepay import duties and taxes at checkout. This option, known as Delivery Duties Paid (DDP), ensures that all duties and taxes are settled at the time of purchase.
- Currently, this prepaid option is available only via UPS for UK, Canadian, Chinese and Japanese orders. If your chosen shipping method includes DDP, you won’t need to pay additional fees upon delivery.
2. Pay upon delivery:
- For shipments to countries where DDP is not available, import duties and taxes will be collected by the carrier or your local customs office when your package arrives.
- You will be notified by the carrier about the amount due, and payment will be required before your package is delivered. The carrier will contact you either by email or an official letter.
- The carrier or customs office will inform you of the acceptable payment methods.
Important Notes:
- It is the buyer’s responsibility to pay any additional charges for customs clearance.
- To avoid surprises, it’s a good idea to check your country’s import policies and potential charges before placing an order.
