Every Wooting keyboard is a compound device which is composed of:

Keyboard
Xbox controller (Xinput)
Classic gamepad device (DirectInput).

By following this guide, you will disable both the Classic controller (Directinput) and the Xbox controller (Xinput). This can be useful when you're encountering issues related to the controllers in games or applications.

How to disable all gamepads

In the Wootility navigate to "Settings" and click on 1. Keyboard settings

In this menu under Gamepad Mode select 2. No gamepad

That's it, all game controllers on your wooting keyboard are now disabled.

Troubleshoot - Restore/Reset the Wooting keyboard

Your Wooting keyboard stopped working and it's a paperweight. Don't worry, you didn't break it and it's very easy to restore. Just follow these steps:

Step 0: Save your current profiles and unplug the keyboard

Open the profile manager by clicking the bottom left square-shaped icon and [save your profiles].
Unplug your Wooting keyboard

Step 1: Enter keyboard restore mode

Plug in the Wooting keyboard in your PC while holding the following key combination:

On a Wooting One hold down the "Mode" and "Right arrow" keys.
On a Wooting Two hold down the "Mode" and "Numpad return" keys.

If you did it correctly all the RGB lights should be off and the Wooting keyboard will be listed as "Wooting Restore" under "Devices and Printers".

Step 1a: Verify Keyboard restore mode has been found

If you did it correctly all the RGB lights should be off (although you can only check that way if the keyboard was working properly previously). An alternative way of checking if you've successfully got the keyboard into restore mode is by looking for a "Wooting Restore" device.

_Pre-orders for the Wooting 60HE have the option to upgrade their order to air freight shipping. This article explains what exactly that upgrade means, and why it's even an option. _

What is air freight shipping?

Air freight shipping is one way to get the keyboards from the factory in China where they get made to our warehouses in the Netherlands and in the United States.

The other way to ship all those keyboards is via sea freight shipping. Sea freight shipping takes a lot longer, but is usually cheaper.

Note: The freight shipment (air freight or sea freight) from the manufacturer to our warehouse is not the same as the shipment from our warehouse to your front door.

Usually when we make the bulk shipment from the manufacturer to our warehouse, we stick with the cheapest option, which is via sea freight. This normally takes 6+ weeks to arrive, as a best case scenario.

Air freight shipping usually takes about two weeks and is far more reliable.

The cost for this upgrade is either €12.00 or $12.00, depending on whether your order was placed via our North American storefront or our European/International storefront. The extra cost of the upgrade is fully passed through on average. To be fully transparent, since shipping prices change all the time, sometimes it costs us a little more than €/$12 per keyboard to upgrade, and sometimes a little less.

Wootility - Configuring device access for Wootility under Linux (udev rules)

Background

Because the Wootility communicates directly with the keyboard the user needs the permission for it, otherwise the keyboard can't be found. So either the Wootility must be started with higher privileges (like with sudo) or the user need the permission for accessing the device.

Granting access with udev

To granting the user for accessing the Wooting keyboard without the need to run it with higher privileges, the access rights must be set for the device. This can be done with dedicated udev rules there a named group get authorised to the device. So the user needs to be in that group in order to grant him access to the device with the Wootility. It's recommended to use the standard group 'input' for this, but you can use any existing group to limit the access to them.

Creating the rules

Create a new file called '70-wooting.rules' under the path '/etc/udev/rules.d/' with the following content. The name can be changed (but it should start with 70-), but the file extension must be 'rules' otherwise it wont work.

Wootility - Dynamic Keystroke (DKS)

Dynamic Keystroke is an advanced feature that gets the most out of your Wooting keyboard.

The basics

In the DKS view simply left-click a keyboard key where you would like to add a DKS binding. You can remove a DKS binding with a right-click.

The orange symbol represents the binding you are currently editing.
The white symbol represents all the DKS bindings that are active.

You can control what a DKS binding should do in a grid view on the bottom. The columns represent the state of a keystroke:
First column = when the key first actuates (1.5mm)
Second column = when the key is at it's lowest actuation point (3.6mm)
Third column = when the key goes back up (~3.6mm)
Fourth column = when the key is back at the highest actuation point (1.5mm)

The rows represent the actions you can bind to a DKS binding, you can add up to 4 different keybindings. Simply click an input field and press key which action it should be.

Pro tip: you can unbind a key by right-clicking in the input field.
